Below are some Frequently Asked Questions relating to ASHM Membership.
Essentially, the benefits of membership are: information-sharing, networking, ability to influence policy, and conference discounts. See our membership benefits page for details.
No. But conference discounts are only one of the benefits we offer. ASHM members receive exclusive benefits such as voting in ASHM's AGM and standing for office. Only members receive our targeted email alerts, and can nominate themselves to sit on specialised committees.
The scope of ASHM spans far beyond HIV. ASHM is a founding member of the Australasian Sexual Health Alliance (ASHA). ASHM members can nominate ASHA as an area of interest, which means they will routinely get sexual health updates. ASHM members also get discounted registration to the Australasian Sexual Health Conference.
Members must resign in writing. If you wish to resign, please send an email to ASHM's membership team. A brief explanation of the reason for resignation would be greatly appreciated, and help us improve our services.
Yes. Affiliates and complimentary members may upgrade their membership at any time. Simply email ASHM's membership team and we can do this for you and invoice you or take payment over the phone.
Ordinary members must resign in writing first before transferring to affiliate membership. If you wish to transfer to the retired membership category, this must be done at your next renewal.
If you are transferring to become an Ordinary Member your application will need to be approved by the ASHM board. This generally takes a few weeks.
